Framing the Debate
Woodworking, Picture Framing
I have to admit..When I recieved a message asking if I could make a built-in day bed I had to google "daybed". But this ship-lapped daybed turned out great! The clients are happy, I'm happy. the mitres on the arms are super tight and I did a herring bone pattern on the back corners that looks pretty sweet also. This is the fourth or fifth project for this couple's house and compliments the ash entertainment center I built for them last year. The ash in both projects came from my friend Steve's mill here in South Minneapolis.

Sometimes people come to me with something they need modified. Its a little different process than building something from scratch. It can be a lot of fun to remix a piece of furniture or help re-image a heavy carved molding into a shroud for a planter box and it takes a little nerve to cut up an already painted painting and make a "new" smaller painting from it. We moved, household and woodshop.Moving trucks, boxes, open doors and mosquitoes, that's what I remember most about our moving our home recently from North East back to South Minneapolis. If that wasn't enough, I also had to move my woodshop by the end of the following month. For sure necessary, but it basically meant two months of moving before being confronted by all that which had been moved. I took a little time between commercial leases so my tools went into the garage at the new house. In a little over a weeks time I'll be moving them again to the new shop location at;
Purity Bakery Building 500 E, 36th St. MPLS MN 55408 The only way I could ever hope to fit the shop into storage like this was to massively purge the someday-maybe scraps of wood and plywood, ditch some unneeded tools and gift some tables and shelves. I think it will really help in organizing the new space, which is for sure smaller than the last. I'm a little excited to be able to cross the shop for tools more quickly and see them more clearly without all of the clutter in front of and around them. |
